It’s the Journey, not the destination!

We’ve heard this statement many times “It’s the journey, not the destination”. How true are those words. Journey denotes our existence here on earth. – It contains a personal history of who we were, how we lived, who we knew and what we did with our lives. The Journey is filled with memories of love, joy, laughter, pain, sorrow, anger, forgiveness, emotions all entertained, some internalized, some expressed, and some exploded. I compare “The Journey” with a “Road Trip”. When you are a photography aficionado and a blogger you are as excited about the trip as you are about the destination. When my husband and I travel, we keep our cameras nearby so we can easily grab them to photograph any amazing road finding. We enjoy the journey! We make as many stops as it’s needed, we try new things, we explore new places, and we usually have no hurry to get to our final destination. In the midst of our living, time continues on its endless journey – Our journey is a gift, however we rarely stop and acknowledge it as such. As I said in a previous post:

“My hopes and dreams, my vision and expectations won’t be fulfilled at the destination but within the journey. Every battle I win is one less that my child has to fight. That I’m not going “There”, the Olympus where god Victory and Success dwells, but In Christ I’m coming from “THERE”.

“THERE”, is not a destination, it is a person…Jesus. My life may not always be pink and puffy as a Quinceanera dress. But I hope I don’t have to be too old to understand that fulfillment is not the accumulation of many good stuff and circumstances, but also the strength and character to resist the bad, the ugly and the sad with a good attitude.”

Our journeys aren’t always perfect and smooth. Many times I’ve crossed deserts and faced inclement weathers; but while I’m wandering in my desert I’ve learned that “even when it seems that I completely ignore where I’m going; I can clearly see what I’m made of” The best part of my journey it’s call growing and character.
